University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center and Football Coaches Raise Funds

Just about everyone you know has been touched by cancer.  The Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Michigan is a leader in cancer treatment and recovery,  Funds are used for video to help with visualization, counseling, massages, whatever the patient needs to get through the therapy to recover to wellness.

I became aware of the combined efforts of U of M Cancer Center in fundraising with the University of Michigan Football through W4 Country Radio on 102.9.  By having an opportunity of being aware, I am ready to participate next year and help raise funds for this cause.  There are so many wonderful people working to help others through this recovery process. Below are the videos posted on youtube introducing the days events.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I did dress to play and was given a t shirt and hat along with sun screen.  We were assigned a team captain, mine was Autumn Barwis, wife of conditioning coach, Mike Barwis.  I had met them before, as they bought one of my listings when they moved here from West Virginia. She was accompanied by their son, Raymond. Rachel Rodriguez carried Raymond too, making this a family event. We rotated to different stations, starting with the weight room to stretch and limber up on the floor with some exercises.  We then went into the indoor practice area to learn and practice drills with various coaches.

Each coach taught us their specialty and we attempted to learn the proper stance, to cradle the football properly for a pass off, to weave backwards, to run back while watching the quarterback to anticipate to break left or right to get the catch.  We practiced the snap and when to explode over the line.  If you went off sides, pushups were required.  Some of us tackled and landed on a soft cushion.  I got to push U of M player "Moose" around in practice.

In the next blog, I will include Coach Rodriquez actual teaching/training session.
