Ann Arbor Frank Lloyd Wright Palmer House For Sale

Nearly 60 years after Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to build an Ann Arbor house for the Palmer family, the house is up for sale for the first time.  For $1.5 million you can own a piece of architectural history.  This masterpiece was commissioned in 1950 for William and Mary Palmer.  The price of the home includes several special relics such as the original furniture, a collection of Wright’s papers and a tea house tucked behind the home in the woods.  There is one catch though - the house must be kept in its pristine and original state.  An easement with the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy will prevent any future changes to the property.  The family is interested in preserving the unique history of this home.

True to Frank Lloyd Wright’s style, rooms in the Palmer House are small and hallways are only wide enough for one person.  This is inline with his philosophy that families should spend time together in the shared spaces of the home.  This home was falls within the range of his "Usonian" Style.  Wright’s homes were well known to fit within and incorporate the natural landscape of their surroundings.

Frank Lloyd Wright is regarded as one of the most influential architects in the US.  The Palmer House is considered by many to be one of his best small houses.  The home is located just off Geddes Road near the Nichols Arboretum.
