There is so much going on in Ann Arbor during the Month of August.  All of the end of summer events are going on as we speak!  Below, find highlights for a few of the events that I found interesting for this month.  Try something new and HAVE FUN!

HERBFEST 2008

Enjoy a guided tour of a 16th-century Tudor style herb knot garden featuring herbs from around the world; learn from guest speaker Peter Stark, owner of Renaissance Acres Organic Herbal Farm; learn how to make a dream pillow, herb-infused oils, or propagate scented geraniums. Lavender lemonade and other herbal refreshments offered. Shop cookbooks, dream pillow kits, and other merchandise.

COMEDY JAMM

Every Thursday night it’s cut-loose comedy as we present the comedy of 12 of the current rising stars in the Detroit Metro area and beyond. Anything can happen as we present this uncensored cacophony of comedy. …and a good time will be had by all!! Note: Some Special Engagements and Select shows will replace the Thursday open mic shows.

TILE MAKING DAY AT MOTT HOSPITAL

All are invited to paint outdoor tiles that will be placed in the garden of the new C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital. Tiles are crafted through a partnership with Detroit-based Pewabic Pottery. Registration is required by Thursday, August 6, please call or email.

DANCING IN THE STREETS

Dance to many kinds of live music downtown. Enjoy a parade, miniconcerts and children’s activities. This event offers local residents a chance to sample lots of different music and dance traditions, enjoy the downtown area and see some friends and neighbors in the process.

THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN

The Yankee Air Museum is proud to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of “Thunder over Michigan”. A decade in the making, the 2008 Edition of Chrysler Jeep Superstores Thunder Over Michigan promises to be the warbird show not to be missed! Featuring a salute to the “rough and tough” P-47 Thunderbolt and special segment dedicated to the beloved WWII Heavy Bombers, a wide variety of vintage and modern military Fighters, Bombers and Transports will help celebrate the event’s 10th Anniversary!
