Doing the same things, going to the same events and eating at the same restaurants. Are you looking for new and different experiences? Below, find highlights for a few of the events that I found interesting for the month of February. Try something new and exciting, then let me know how it was! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

CHRISSY BURNS
Looking at the world as a big buffet, Chrissy Burns helps herself to an oversized portion of laughter. Audiences delight in getting to know this full-figured gal as she regales them with stories of dieting, dating and true life experiences. A true road-comic, Chrissy can be found performing at bars, nightclubs or anyplace with a stage & microphone. She’s a favorite at US military bases and performs regularly at The Tropicana Casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. As a confident, rubenesque woman Chrissy Burns believes in using her comedy to break stereotypes. And as a cancer survivor Chrissy brings to the stage a funny, heart-felt message about the power of laughter. Beyond the live comedy stage, Chrissy appears in the documentary film, “Be Funny.” Chrissy’s CD “Soul Music” is played on XM Satellite Radio. And Chrissy’s outrageously funny road story, “Follow That” can be found in the Random House book, “I Killed – True Stories of the Road from America’s Top Comics.” One of Chrissy’s greatest joys is being onstage, making audiences laugh. Come giggle along with this inspirational lady and get to know the copious comedian who has made an impressive, indelible mark on today’s comedy scene.

THE ARK’S 23RD ANNUAL STORYTELLING FESTIVAL
Each year The Ark brings audiences along on a journey to the land of the mind’s eye with our February Storytelling Festival, featuring talespinners from far and wide. This year’s headliners bring diversity, interactivity, and plenty of humor.

African-American Illinois storyteller Linda Gorham energizes her audiences by using movement, humor, and sometimes zaniness as she tells multicultural folktales updated with attitude! Her stories amuse, stimulate, and make you laugh out loud.

Charleston, West Virginia storyteller Bil Lepp describes himself as a “liar,” and in fact he got his start when he won the West Virginia Liars Contest in 1990, picking up a hundred dollars and a golden shovel for his efforts.

Yvonne Healy and Darryl Mickens fill the bill for an event that’s one of southeast Michigan’s hidden gems
