Ann Arbor MI Real Estate: Investors & Bank REO’s!

Investors are key to the current progress of the housing market recovery.

Some are reporting that investors are snapping up bargain priced bank owned property like there is no tomorrow, while other take a more cautious outlook, Lawrence Yun, chief economist for the National Association of Realtors is one from that school of thought.

Whereas before investors bought for capital appreciation in the short term, Yun believes that investors are playing a very beneficial role by acquiring real estate more prudently. As they are looking for prices at the rock bottom end of the cycle, and are buying for solid, positive rental cash flows.

NAR carried out a recent member survey that suggested investors account for roughly one of every eleven sales. Sixteen percent of recent transactions were all cash, one of every six, but that number could include owner-occupant purchasers who have the money and choose to avoid taking out a mortgage.
