Ann Arbor Real Estate: In A Tough Housing Market The Most Experienced Agents Weather the Storm
During any tough market the number of new Realtors and those who renew their licenses falls and the most experienced Realtors tend to weather the market storm and wait for the market to improve.
Well, this time it is happening again. the Los Angeles Times reports that in California just 2,030 people took examinations for broker and agent licenses in March, down from more than 18,000 in March 2005, according to the state Department of Real Estate. According to the National Association of Realtors there is a 13% drop in membership since 2006.
Here in Ann Arbor there has been a slight reduction in number reported by the local Ann Arbor Board of Realtors, As of September 30th 2008 they had 924 paying members and as of April 30th 2009 they had only 829 paying members. A loss of 95 members in around 7 months.
Generally the drop is only related to market conditions, however this time there have been such advancements in technology and the real estate information available on the internet that is so freely available, meaning that those who do not utilize these tools are simply left behind. Only the most experienced agents and brokers tend to make it through tough market condition.
