Our data loosely mirrors 2008 data from the National Association of Realtors where generally the following trends were outlined as sources for real estate buyers:

• 34% real estate agent
• 32% internet
• 15% sign
• 7% referral from someone they know
• 7% home builder or agent
• 3% print ad/ newspaper
• 2% direct from seller
• 1% magazine or home book

It’s important to note that 87% of home buyers who used the Internet to search for homes ultimately purchased through a real estate agent according to NAR. An indication that while the internet is a great research tool ultimately home buyers need guidance during the daunting process of purchasing a home and most people will rely on a Real Estate Professional.

We find it important to track this data so we know where to spend effective advertising dollars to generate Ann Arbor real estate buyers. We also are doing some unique programs to generate buyers for our client listings. Our monthly Ann Arbor home buyer seminars have generated some qualified buyers. Some of the attendees may take some time to get their credit in alignment before proceeding, but we work with them to make sure they are truly qualified before proceeding.
