The Dexter Real Estate Market still shows an abundance of inventory.  These charts show the difference between the number of homes listed in a price range and the number of sales in that price range.  For all price brackets, there are more listings than sales in June. For July, the $600-650K had more sales, and the $1milion – $2million had equal listings and sales. That can happen because the house was under contract from a previous listing.  See the charts for Dexter Real Estate June and July 2009 Price Distribution.

Our Dexter MI Chamber dinner at the Knights of Columbus was held Jan 21.  Thanks to the Finks for hosting the event and Sandy and Steve Varney of The Lighthouse Restaurant for catering the delicious meal.  We were delighted to hear a guest singer this year on behalf of the upcoming opening of the Encore Theatre.   Jessica Grove who has a list of Broadway credentials sang Somewhere Over The Rainbow.  Not surprising that her performance was perfect since she had performed in New York alongside Mickie Rooney.   Opening night Feb 5th is sold out.  Tickets for Evita are available through Feb 15th.

Chamber President, Joe Nowak presented the Awards:

• Lifetime Membership Award to Carol Jones
• Past Board Members Recognition to John Evans, Jane Finkbeiner, Jill Love

Assisting with the presentations was Michigan Representative Pam Byrnes and County Commissioner’s son Mark Ouimet.

Membership remained strong this year and the Dexter plans for the Border-to-Border Trail Connection, Hudson Mills Metropark to Village of Dexter, were made available.  This was provided by a Transportation Enhancement Grant.   The proposed pedestrian underpass will connect to the Mill Pond Park Project currently under construction on Main Street.  Click here to view the Downtown Development Authority Plans online.

As a side note, I got to sit and enjoy dinner with the folks at LaFontaine Motors and really enjoyed hearing about their camaraderie and record sale year!
