Local U of M Grads Heat Up the Ann Arbor Restaurant Scene with Cafe Habana and the Blue Tractor Cook Shop

Successful Restaurateurs, Gregory Lobdell and Jon Carlson, are bringing more options to Ann Arbor

Currently Carlson and Lobdell have 10 operating restaurants in Michigan and more on the way.  The first Ann Arbor project was the Grizzly Peak Brewing Co. which was one of Michigan’s first brew pubs.

Recently Carlson and Lobdell (2 Mission, LLC) opened their doors at a new Ann Arbor location - 211 E. Washington Street.  Cafe Habana is a full service Cuban restaurant designed to resemble pre-Castro Cuba.  The rich decor combines art deco and colonial design styles offering a fun and relaxed eating experience.  To date, this is their most popular restaurant location.  Appetizers range from $3 - $7 and entrees from $7 to $19.

Directly adjacent to Cafe Habana there is another 2 Mission restaurant underway - The Blue Tractor Cook Shop.  Modeled after the first Blue Tractor Cook Shop in Traverse City, this burger and barbecue joint will occupy the old Buddhist temple space in the Jewel Heart Building.  By offering several concepts in one location these crafty foodies can ultimately create cost efficiencies in the kitchen.

Don’t look for them to slow down anytime soon!  Their ultimate goal is to go head to head with Kalamazoo’s Bell’s Brewery, creating great brews for the East side of the state to enjoy.

Yet one more option for you to enjoy in the Ann Arbor Scene!
